Position Overview:
The University of Minnesota is seeking a dynamic and experienced Special Project Manager for a temporary 5 to 6-month, part-time (20hrs. - week), position. This role will focus on initiating and completing an economic impact study, working closely with senior leadership to deliver a comprehensive and insightful report to the Board of Regents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in institutional settings and will be adept at navigating various colleges and units to gather essential data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the economic impact study project from inception to completion, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Work across different colleges and units within the university to obtain necessary data, ensuring cooperation and effective communication.
  • Analyze data and compile comprehensive reports that reflect the economic impact of the University of Minnesota.
  • Present findings to senior leadership and other key stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensure all project activities align with the universityâ™s strategic goals and financial policies.
  • Provide regular updates to the AVP of Finance and other senior leaders on project progress, challenges, and milestones.
  • Address any issues or roadblocks promptly and effectively to keep the project on track.

  • Bachelorâ™s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field, plus at least eight years of related experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within an institutional setting, preferably in higher education.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully leading and completing projects.
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different departments and units.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools used for data analysis and project management.
