Saint Joseph East is a 217-bed full-service community hospital located in the rapidly growing southeastern section of Lexington Kentucky. We provide care for patients in Fayette and surrounding counties. At Saint Joseph East ambulatory surgery 24-hour emergency care and women’s health services are supported through a vast array of inpatient and outpatient program. Additional specialty services include Heart Care Breast Care Sleep Care and Weight Loss Surgery. As our NICU Nurse at CHI Saint Jospeh East , now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll focus on the safety of the newborn, with kindness and compassion.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to appreciate that routine is never routine. We have some wonderful days in this department and get to be with people through huge milestones in their lives. We also have some hard days and are with people as they grieve. You must be sensitive and understanding to different circumstances. Above all else, you must remain calm in an emergency. A newborn's status can change quickly and it’s never good for the mother or family to see the nurse in a panic. You’re calm. You’re in control. You’re handling the situation.

• Educate patients on various interventions or procedures
• Assess newborn and provide care.
• Communicate with the care management team, including physician or midwife, lactation nurse, charge nurse, postpartum unit, patient and family

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree (ADN) in Nursing from an accredited nursing college or program
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license cleared by the Kentucky Board of Nursing or with eNLC multi-state practice privilege
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS ) required to obtain within 6 months post hire
• Neonatal Resusitation Program (NRP) required to obtain within 90 days post hire
• Previous L&D and/or NICU experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
