Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:Tooversee the maintenance and upkeep of all grounds including plants, trees, lawn areas, drives, walkways, ponds, irrigation systems, snow and ice removal, trash and recycle, moving services to various departments and all equipment to provide guest safety and satisfaction. Each function should begin with a verb such as Creates, Develops, Performs, etc.) Create a visual experience, particularly on our grounds, that is world class Provide leadership that drives accountability while maintaining a respectful and productive work environment Maintains Big Cedar service delivery at best in class and a subject of benchmarking Identify inefficient processes and redesign those processes and/or recommend tools to improve the processes Coach associates to practice leadership that drives Big Cedar culture and business objectives Interview professionally and legally at all times Directly supervise the landscaping team at Big Cedar Lodge Select, train, supervise, discipline and terminate as necessary on his team In partnership with the Landscaping Manager create the budget for the BCL landscaping department Supervise and assist as necessary with the cutting, trimming, seeding, irrigation and chemical application of all lawn areas Supervise and assist as necessary with the bed preparation, planting, weeding, irrigation and chemical application of all flower beds and planting areas Supervise and assist as necessary with the cleaning of debris, removal of snow and ice, spreading of sand and ice melt and repair of all walkways, trails, drives and parking areas Supervise and assist as necessary with tree maintenance including trimming, removal and irrigation Supervise and assist as necessary with maintenance, repairs and winterization of irrigation systems Perform maintenance of landscaping equipment and tools Keep Director of Facilities informed of equipment and supply needs Acquire working knowledge of the Lodge and facilities to respond appropriately to guest questions, as required Assist in training of employees Assist in the planning, scheduling, supervising and coordination of the daily operations Keep Director of Facilities promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters so prompt corrective action can be taken when appropriate Perform other duties as required EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Degree Required:High School Diploma or Equivalent KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY: Years of experience: 2 in Landscaping TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: (Provide travel expectations for this role) 5 % PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Computer Work Walking Sitting Standing Lifting up to 50 lbs. Additional Physical Requirements WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office Other: Outside on Resort INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within the general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
